These women and girls were victims of hurricanes Iota and Eta, two category 4 hurricanes that ravaged the country in November 2020 and left 128,00 Hondurans stranded in shelters and informal camps.

An analysis of the criminal proceedings and legal criteria regarding cases of women prosecuted for abortion from 2006 to 2018 in Honduras, using a legal-social approach and from a gender and human rights perspective.
The situation of induced abortion has changed markedly over the past few decades. This report provides updated information on the incidence of abortion worldwide, the laws that regulate abortion and the safety of its provision. It also looks at unintended pregnancy, its relationship to abortion, and the impact that both have on women and couples who increasingly want smaller families and more control over the timing of their births.

January of 2020, Optio transitioned from being a program under the OASIS Initiative to an independent organization. We have since expanded our mission, added two new programs, and broadened the scope of our sexual and reproductive rights work to include both women and girls.
