STRATEGIC LITIGATION
We use strategic litigation to challenge unjust policies, defend reproductive rights, and establish legal precedents that expand access to essential reproductive healthcare and protect the wellbeing of women and girls. Working in close partnership with local lawyers, universities, legal institutions and international allies, we bring forward cases that expose human rights violations and drive structural change. We aim not only to secure justice in individual cases, but also to shift legal norms, challenge stigma, and catalyze broader reforms that protect the autonomy and dignity of women and girls.
FEATURED PROJECTS
PROJECT: Using Domestic Impact Litigation to Prevent Women’s Criminalization for Obstetric Emergencies
IMPACT: If our strategy succeeds, we will prevent women from being prosecuted for abortion in situations where there is an obstetric emergency or when a women needs to interrupt a pregnancy for health reasons.
At least 50 women have been criminalized for abortion over the last decade in Honduras
PROJECT: Survivor’s Voices
IMPACT: Through psychosocial support, life planning, and economic assistance, Survivors’ Voices helps women criminalized for abortion reclaim their futures. One beneficiary has resumed her studies through a scholarship and is on track to complete her secondary education, while four others have launched a joint entrepreneurship project to support themselves and their families.
